Removing attachments from a group of emails

I receive many emails that contain attachments to include signature gifs, jpgs, pdf's, word, excel in all sizes every day.

once or twice a month i go through the emails and proceed to delete the attachments, only keeping the email content.

have sub-folders and within each folder i will sort by attachment, select those items, and then go to "Message", and then "Remove all attachments".

75% of the time they delete with no problem. the other 25%, i will get this weird tile effect all over my computer of the email content like it exploded on my screen. Once i drag my mouse over it, it will go away.

What might be causing this scramble effect?

I have a picture of what it looks like, should you need to see it.

Any ideas? this happened with my other computer as well, with Entourage 2004.

The picture would definitely help to understand your problem. You can
use ImageShack <http://imageshack.us/> to post if you don't have your
own site.

Attached is the URL to Image Shack jpg i took of the tile effect that happens
with removing group attachments but keeping the emails in Entourage.

Wow! What a mess.

Try using one of the scripts to remove attachments and see what happens.

**Remove Attachments Script** By Jolly Roger- This script removes all
attachments from the currently selected messages in Entourage. The script
allows you to optionally extract removed attachments to a folder named
"Removed Attachments" on disk, and also optionally adds notes and links to
affected messages.

**Save Attachments** by Paul Berkowitz
If you want to reduce the size of your Entourage Database or simply like to
save your attachments separately to a folder on your computer, you can do so
from an Entourage rule but then have the problem that there's no way to get
from the message to the saved and removed attachment. This script will save,
remove and link the saved files to the message, so you can open the file
directly from the message. You can also choose to go to the folder in Finder
instead from a companion script (useful if the file is stuffed, for
example).

Let me know if this works for you.
