Removing autonumbering from headings in Table of Contents

I have a document with two levels of heading styles:

A. Heading 1
1. Heading 2

I have them set up as heading styles within my document.

I want my TOC to look like this:

A. Heading 1...........................page #
Heading 2...........................page #

Is there any way to make this happen without converting my TOC to text and
manually taking out the autonumbering for Heading 2?

If you don't want heading 2's in your text to be numbered, then in the
_customize outline numbered list_ dialog in W2003 or the similar _define new
multilevel list dialog_ in W2007, unlink numbering level 2 from heading 2.
To get to the dialog
In W2003 & before: modify heading 1 > format > numbering > outline numbered
tab > Customize. In W2007: place cursor in the first heading 1 in the
document > multilevel list button > Define new multilevel list.

If you want the numbers to appear in the text but not in the TOC, write back.
Someone else may be able to help you.
