Removing background color

I'm using Powerpoint 2010. Is there a way from within the program to
remove a background color on a piece of clip art? I have a cartoon
type picture that has a white background and when I paste it into my
slide the background blocks out other parts to the slide. Thanks very
much.

maybe, this will help you: Picture Tools | Format | Adjust | Color |
Set Transparent Color.
Click the color in the picture that you want to make transparent.
