removing blank lines in a mail merge

I am merging an address list but find that on completion the blank links are
showing in the address. How do ask XP not to merge the blank lines.

Thanks

Given that you have provided no information whatsoever about your merge
document layout, this is impossible to answer, but you can test for content
in a field and only insert the field and the line feed following it using an
IF field. eg

{IF {Mergefield AddressLine1} <> "" "{Mergefield AddressLine1}
"}{IF {Mergefield AddressLine2} <> "" "{Mergefield AddressLine3}
"}{IF {Mergefield AddressLine4} <> "" "{Mergefield AddressLine4}
"}etc

hi..
Have you tried any steps to overcome this issue.

If you are using Word 2000, then following steps will
work out for you.

Open your word application
click on Tools >>>>>>> options>>> General >>>>>>>
check the box which says convertion conversion at open.

When you start doing mail merge and select data source...
you get confirm data source dialog box...
In this dialog box lets select options which says DDE(*. )

Then after inserting fields when you click on merge
button on mail merge tool bar
you get merge window there in third section which says
when merging records...there are two radio button..lets
check on first one which says Dont print blank lines when
data fields are empty.

Now click on merge, you will not see any blank lines.

Note: If you are using word 2002 or word 2003, its
automated and it will not print any blank lines.

If this steps work out for use. please mail me and notify.
Thank you..
Have a Nice Day...
Bye
with Regards
Uday.
