In the course of editing a document I have created blank pages before a section break. I need to get rid of these pages. I went into Publishing View but the "-1" aka Remove Page button is not active. Any ideas?

In a normal Word document, there is no such thing as "pages".

What "look like" pages are created by Word at output time ‹ that is,
whenever the document gets sent to a printer or the screen. The page itself
does not exist in the file.

Now you know that, you can understand that if you reverse whatever it was
that you did to "create" the page", the page will disappear.

If you added a "Page Break", delete it. If you used "Page break before" on
a paragraph, unset it. If you set "Page break before" into your style,
unset it.

Hope this helps

And page breaks may be more easily viewable in Draft view (I say "may"
because that's the case in versions before 2008, which named it "Normal"
view, but I don't have 2008 running at present.)
