Removing completed projects & where the data stays

I have several projects on the server at the moment that are completed ie
funding has run out, report has been submitted etc. I would like to remove
the projects from the server, not least so that resources no longer have the
assignments in their tasksheet. However, I don't necessarily want to loose
the information, because I need it to do end of FY reporting. I guess that by
deleting the project, the data is removed from MSP_ tables, but can anyone
enlighten me as to whether the data is also removed from MSP_Web, MSP_Cube or
MSP_View tables?

Cheers,

John

When you delete a project, the information gets deleted from every relevant
area of the Project Server database. This means that you would lose the end
of FY reporting capability on that project. You have several alternatives,
however. One option would be to create a second Project Server instance
using the EditSite tool, and you could call that instance Archive or
something of the like. You could save completed projects as .mpp files,
delete them from your production Project Server instance, and then import
them into the Archive instance.

A second option is to "hide" the completed projects in the production
Project Server instance using the steps detailed in the following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/ArchiveCompletedProjects.htm

Using the second option, you would still do end of FY reporting in Portfolio
Analyzer views. Just some ideas for you. Hope this helps.

You are a God! Sorry for the hyperbole, but your help is very much appreciated.

Our concern for the solution provide is that the "completed projects" data
seems to show in places we dont' want it to any more. As an example, a PM
using the resource allocation table still sees the closed project information
from within their own active project. So, if the PM is trying to see over
allocations (in this example), the supposedly closed project information for
the specific individual still shows.

Also, and perhaps this should be on a separate/unique thread....if we do
want to totally delete a closed project...how do we 'save' the data PLUS the
sharepoint project documents (especailly issue/risk logs data). At the
moment, there is no easy way to zip up an archive for a project that has
been finsihed, so it can later be used/reviewed, etc.
