Removing completed tasks from Project Web view

Is there a way for a project manager to remove completed tasks from the team
member's project web view of their tasks? I would like to do this for the
resources and not have them have to manually hide each tasks in the Project
Web view or to require that they use a filter to show only incomplete tasks.
I do not want to delete the tasks in project or the resources because of
actual worked hours values stored there. Setting the tasks in project to
100% complete or 100% work complete and republishing the tasks did not work.
Thanks.

Your Project Server administrator can delete completed tasks from each
user's PWA timesheet by going to Admin - Clean Up Project Server Database.
He/she can select the Tasks option and then select Completed Tasks only. A
project manager cannot do this unless he/she has administrator permissions.
Hope this helps.

Dale,
If you do this, won't the tasks re-appear in PWA the next time the
project is published? Also, won't this be mis-leading to team members? When
they go to all tasks in previous weeks, they won't see the work that they did
if these tasks are deleted.

I wish the product had a good way of keeping completed tasks on timesheets -
but dis-allow any further actuals to be posted to it.

No, the tasks will NOT reappear unless the project manager republishes the
assignments using Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments. After
updating actuals into the project from the Updates page in PWA, the project
manager should publish the latest schedule changes using Collaborate -
Publish - All Information. There is no need to republish the assignments.
In fact, the republishing of assignments should only be done in one of the
following situations:

1. To take over as the manager of another manager's project, either
temporarily or permanently
2. To "push" actuals to each user's PWA timesheet after manually entering
actuals in the Microsoft Project plan
3. To "push" a new method of tracking to each user's timesheet
4. To "unhide" a task accidentally hidden by a team member

In scenario #4 above, the project manager should first apply the Resource
Usage view, select the task that was accidentally hidden, click
Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, and select the "Selected
Tasks" option from the top of the dialog.

Our administrator and I just tested this cleanup function in our test
environment. It deletes the actual hours stored in the PWA database.
Currently, our custom Crystal Reports pull data from our PWA database. We
wrote custom Crystal reports that pull across all projects from PWA instead
of the Project Server Database because we only had the schema for PWA. Is it
possible to get a schema for Project Server 2003 so that we may perhaps
rewrite our reports to pull from there instead of from PWA? This would then
allow us to cleanup PWA completed tasks. Thanks.
