Removing extra spaces between sentences

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC I have a number of long documents with the old-fashioned, double-spacing between sentences. Is there any auto function (in any version of Word for Mac) that can remove extra spaces?

Use Find & Replace: Type a period followed by 2 spaces in the 'Find what'
field, a period followed by 1 space in the 'Replace with' field, the click
Replace All. (The periods are optional, but I prefer to include them to
avoid replacements other than following a period.)
