Removing hyperlinks through the Broken Hyperlink Report

J

John Smith

Hi.

I'm using the Reports function to clean up my external hyperlinks. There
are a number of them that are broken and I would like to be able to remove
them altogether - in other words just leave the text on the webpage as it is
and remove the hyperlink "behind" it.

I've tried using the "Edit the hyperlink" feature, however, the menu will
not work if a new hyperlink is not entered as a choice. I wanted to be able
to leave the "Replace With" field blank, like the typical Find/Replace
tool.

Is there anyway to remove all the broken links without having to go to every
single page and take them out one by one?

Thanks for your help.

No, because a empty hyperlink is not a valid hyperlink. Create a new page, then point the hyperlink
to this page.

Before you remove these "broken" external hyperlinks you really need to
verify them in Internet Explorer.
Some web servers will not respond to a "ping" command which is how FrontPage
checks them. This will make FrontPage think the link is broken when it
really isn't.
