removing inactive resources from the enterprise resource pool

Is there a best way for removing inactive resources from the
enterprise resource pool.
We have a large list of inactive resources. I want to remove these
from our pool. This is also for some generics which aren't used
anymore.
I have removed some resources and when opening projects (even old and
closed) I get the message:
"This project usses enterprise resources that are no longer in the
Enterpirse Resource Pool." The message makes sense but is there an
other/better way to remove inactive resource ?

Using Project Server 2007/Project Prof 2007/SP1

If you no longer need to report on these inactive resources, then yes, you
can certainly delete them using the Delete Enterprise Objects page in PWA.
You stated correctly that the warning dialog in Microsoft Project 2007 makes
sense. Keep in mind that after you delete enterprise resources from the
Enterprise Resource Pool, the Project Server 2007 system converts these
former enterprise resources to local resources in each enterprise project to
which they were assigned tasks. Hope this helps.
