Removing lines That's Appearing on Pages

Tonya

It seems that every other time I make a edit in my document a small line
inserts itself either to the left or right of the page near the margin area.
Most of the time I can not position the cursor on the line and simply delete
it. I recently removed highlighted information for a page and a half of text
and a straight line has not appeared down 1 1/2 pages on the left side on one
page and on the right side. Can someone help me on how to remove these lines?

You have display changes toggled on. In Word 2000, you go to tools | track
changes and uncheck the display changes on screen box. If you don't want to
track changes at all double click on the TRK on the bottom tool bar. The
commands will be slightly different in Word 2003.

As "aalaan" assessed, it sounds like you have Track Changes turned on.
To turn off Track Changes, double-click "TRK" in the status bar.

However, turning off Track Changes only prevents new changes from
being tracked and any changes you previously made are still in the
document even if you can not see them on the screen. To remove them
you need to Accept/Reject the changes. On the Reviewing toolbar locate
the Accept/Reject commands and either Accept All or Reject All to
remove them from your document.
