Removing "new mail" taskbar alert in Outlook 2000

Hello - Does anyone know how to remove the little yellow envelope that
appears on the bottom right of the taskbar every time I get a new message in
Outlook 2000. It is annoying to be distracted every time something new comes
in. There is no included option to remove it - you can turn off the sounds,
and stop the popup window in the middle of your screen, but not this envelope
icon. I am on Windows 2000, not XP, so I can't hide the icon using my
Taskbar properties settings either. Does anyone know of a workaround to
disable this - maybe its a different monitoring program that can be removed,
or a registry entry that can be changed?

I don't have access to OL 2000, but for OL 2003, it's on Tools>Options>Email
Options>Advanced E-mail Options. "Show an envelope icon in the notification
area"
