Removing of down arrow from Combo

I have a number of controls across a form that are only
0.75 cm wide and display only one letter. I would like to
reduce the width, but the down arrow gets in the way.

Is there a way to "not display" the down arrow ina combo
box.

Do you need it to be a combobox

Could you not just make it a textbox with validation (this would act like 'limit to list' in a combo). You can tell the user what their options are in the validation text
