Removing Office Welcome Tour

B

Brad

I hope that this in not a double posting, but I cannot find the original
message that I had posted a few hours ago.

How can I remove the Microsoft Office 2003 edition 60 Days Trial Welcome
Tour, please?

The path points to a directory that I cannot see or access, even when I set
the file system to display all hidden files:

C:\WINDOWS\Installer\welcomeTour.exe

I cannot see or navigate that path from windows explorer or the command
prompt.

I have already completed the program removal processes for Office Trial
edition as well as the Office One Note.

Thank you

What happens if you right click on it, select properties and then navigate to that directory using Find Target?

Milly,

Thank you very much. I had never heard of--or noticed--the Find Target
button. I find both ms_office_trial.exe and the previously mentioned
welcomeTour.exe.

It's disturbing that these "super hidden" directories are there, even though
I had elected to display all hidden files and directories.

It's not like either of those files are crucial to the operation and
security of the operating system. It's all to protect no one but marketeering
and the hope that the user will change their mind and purchase a license. I
had to let off a little steam.

Plus, it does no good for your co-hort's "garfield-n-odie's" purely useless
and unhelpful blather about exact timing of my message posting. On other MS
forums, messages appear in very short order. Such blather isn't worthy of an
MVP.

In contrast, thank you, Millie for your professional and helpful solution.

Regards,
Brad

You are welcome but the blame (if that is what you are assigning) belongs to the OEM who puts this crapola into their default installation. With a clean installtion of Office retail, this does not happen.

At any rate, glad you got it taken care of.
