Removing Old Email Addresses in Outlook

No matter what I do Outlook 11 continues to add old email
addresses along with the new email address in the to or
cc line causing returned emails. Any ideas?

Is this before or after you hit send?

.
After send. When sending a new email, Outlook uses the
outdated email address. Tom

So you're saying that these addresses don't appear anywhere in the To or CC
fields before you hit Send? If you only see a name in the To or CC box,
when you double-click on it, does it show the address you want or the
address you DON'T want?

It shows both addresses in auto complete, but only the
correct address in the to or cc line. However, it trys
to send to the obsolete address. I searched for the
obsolete address in all files and with regedit. Found
only one entry in regedit and removed it, but the problem
continues. It looks like there is a bug in autocomplete
to me. Tom

All of the AutoComplete entries are stored in a file with a .NK2 extension.
The file can't be opened for editing, but you can delete individual entries.
When you're entering a name and the list pops up, highlight the bad entry
and press Delete. If you have a lot of bad entries and would rather just
start over, delete the whole .NK2 file. If you're using Windows 2000 or XP,
you'll need to look in hidden and system folders to find that file and many
other Outlook files; it also helps to have file extensions visible in
Windows Explorer since so many files share the same filename except for the
extension.

Thanks Jocelyn, That seems to have solved the problem,
but I would strongly encourage Microsoft to include a fix
for Outlook that would allow you to edit autocomplete
addresses without having to eliminate them all. Just
think about the many times that email addresses change --
you could end up with a string of 3, 4 or 5 invalid
addresses. A simple edit program would solve the problem.

Thanks,

Feel free to pass along your concerns and suggestions to Microsoft at
(e-mail address removed) (put Outlook in the subject line). Microsoft does read
the e-mails sent to these addresses, and the more users requesting a certain
feature, the more likely it will be implemented in the future.
