Removing Outlook 2000

I had a 2GB limit issue. I created 3 smaller pst files. Then I deleted
everything from local setting\microsoft\outlook. Outlook folder is
empty. I uninstalled office 2000. There is no pst in the Outlook
folder. When I click on Outlook ( I thought I could setup Outlook
fresh - no email - plain Outlook - and import the pst files - and have
a new start)- but the former folders and files open with Outlook. How
can I completely purge the -system of all Outlook references so that
when I uninstall office 2000, reinstall Office - and I click on the
new Outlook I will have an empty Outlook ; and than import the smaller
pst files?

You never use import/export to migrate your Outlook data.

Delete or rename all .pst files except the one you want to use. Open
Outlook and when it complains, point it to your preferred .pst file.

You create a new mail Profile using the mail applet in the control panel,
where you add a new data file & your accounts.
Once outlook is running you dont import, but within Outlook
File>Open>Persoanl Folders......browse to and open one of these 'old' data
files, do the same for any others you want to open.

Next time use the Archive options, but remember any archive will have the
same size limitation, so from time to time you will need to archive to a
'new name' archive, so a new archive with that name will be created

I have from the external hard drive 4 clean pst files I copied them
into \Outlook folder.
I ran outlook.exe cleanprofile. I ran outlook.exe cleanpst. In control
panel I deleted the email account.
When I ran the outlook.exe cleanpst Outlook opened empty. I imported
the new pst files. In view the files were perfect, and complete.
I exited Outlook. I opened Outlook and the 'old Outlook' with ghost
psts and ghost emails was there. Any evidence of what I just created
was not there.

For example on ONE.Pst the Properties state it is missing. Everything
is missing. . . But it all is there.
I uninstalled office. New install. New Outlook. And I ran the command
line tools. When Outlook opened - instantly after running the cleanpst
- there were my current healthy pst files. I existed. I opened Outlook
- and everything returned from the 'old profile old Outlook'

As I said I deleted the email account. And in this ghost Outlook if I
check on account there is no account there ?

What can I do to keep this new Outlook ? and prevent whatever is
happening with the old version from Popping back?

That's because you imported. That's never the way to add a PST to Outlook.
Do not import. Use File>Open>Personal Folders File.
