Removing page breaks in Word 2007

Aidan

Hi,

I'm working on someone else's document in Word 2007 with tracked changes
switched on that may have been created in an earlier version of Word. There
is a page break that I can't get rid of. I've tried selecting it and
pressing Delete, but the cursor just jumps to the text on the following page.
This has happened before and I just gave up in the end. Please advise me
what to do.

If you delete a page break while track changes is turned on, the page break
will be visible in the document as long as you are in “Final Showing Markupâ€
view. Have you tried switching to “Final†view (Review tab > Tracking group)?
Then the page break should be gone.

Alternatively, you can turn off Track Changes before you delete the page
break, delete it and turn on Track Changes again. Then it will disappear at
once. But if you are supposed to register all changes, you should keep the
setting turned on – things will be OK when the changes are accepted.

That's great, thanks. I turned off tracked changes and I had no problems
deleting the break. Seems a bit strange to have to do this though. But many
thanks for your help.
