Removing paragraph markers in new Outlook messages?

Somehow these paragraph markers (backwards capital P with 2 lines) show up on
every line of any new message that I create in Outlook! And a dot appears in
between each word as well. It's driving me crazy! I can't figure out what I
selected in error to create this default. Can anyone help me?
