Removing Security from an Access database

D

Dave

I took over support for an Access database that was
created by an individual who is no longer with the
company. When I try to open the database (.mdb) either by
double-clicking or using Shift-Enter keys I get the
following message:
"You do not have the necessary permissions to use
the '...mdb' object. Have your system administrator or
the person who created this ojbect establish the
appropriate permissions for you."
How can I override or remove the security on this database
in order to make changes to it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Dave,
I would suggest that you begin by verifying that you have full permissions
to the folder that the database is stored in.

I actually copied the Access .mdb to my hard drive and
tried opening it there. No luck. As I said, this
database was created by someone else and it's my
understanding that the individuals who want to use this
can't even open it.

Dave,
I suspect that is your problem. You MUST use the same .mdw file that was
used to secure the database. You will need the person who sent you the
database to send you the .mdw file too.
