removing spaces in reports

C

cathy

I am running a report and have selected to hide
duplicates. This leaves a bunch of empty spaces where my
duplicates where and so I have extremely uneven spacing
between lines depending on where my duplicates are. How
do I get even spacing?

Cathy,

If *all* the data across a row of data is a duplicate of the previous
row, and if you have the Hide Duplicates property of all the controls
set to Yes, and if you have the CanShrink property of all controls set
to Yes, and also the CanShrink property of the report section set to
Yes, then the "blank" line will collapse and you will have no gap.
However, I don't really think this is the intended purpose or usage of
Hide Duplicates. If I understand you correctly, you would be better
to have your report based on a query where the Unique Values query
property is set to Yes (i.e. it is a SELECT DISTINCT query).
