Removing SR-1 deleted my Office apps!

J

Before I freak out, someone please help me.

I had Office 2000 installed, applied SR-1 to access a particular
function.

Then Outlook started giving me error messages whenever I tried to
respond to an email. So I went into My Computer, removed SR-1 and it
also removed the Office applications themselves! I'm afraid I've lost
all of my email and contacts!

Please, what can I do? This is my work computer and I have hundreds of
emails I cannot afford to lose!

I'm afraid if I re-install Office, then it will permamently overwrite
my outlook directories. How can I restore my system?

Thanks
John

Ummm HOW did you remove SR1 by going into "my computer"? You /should/ have
removed it in Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs.

Add / remove is available from My Computer. I let Windows do the
uninstall, as normal.

I dont know what you have done or whether you have actually uninstalled your
Office apps, but the OL data file, the *.pst(s) are not removed in an
uninstall or overwritten in a reinstallation.
