removing strikethrough deletions in track changes

I use Word 2002 on Windows XP: I would like to continue to use track changes
in this manner: continue with the inserted text in red and not show the
deleted text at all, it now shows as being crossed-out.

Tools > Options > Track Changes

Set the marking for deletions to (none).
