Removing Templates Causes Flicker

Hello PPT experts! I have developed four templates that we use
exclusively in our company and as a result have no need to see all of
the standard templates that MS supplies in the Design Template List.
Since I do not want to
delete them (they might come in handy some day), I moved all of the MS
standard .pot files to another directory. Although this works, now
when I select the "Slide Design" the Task Pane seems to be looking for
all of the moved templates because I see a lot of template file names
flashing in the pane until PPT does not find them and then it settles
down and just shows the four designs I have developed. What is going
on here? Is there some sort of indexing that has taken place that PPT
references for template loading purposes? If so, how do I re-index?
Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure exactly how the template index works in PPT 2003. (I assume
that's the version you're using?) The default templates show up in a color
order (roughly blues/blacks, then greys/greens, then reds/oranges, then
whites). There's something built in that allows that, and I suspect that's
what's causing the flicker. Any additional templates (like ones from
previous versions of PPT) show up alphabetically after the color-ordered
ones.

No idea how to resolve it. Hopefully posting this will spark some thoughts
from others.

Hello Echo! Thanks for your response. I am surprised that there has
not been any other individuals who have experienced this problem or
have responded to my question. Any hints how I can get an answer to
this problem? I appreciate your input.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas. Only other thing I know to do is call Microsoft
Support and ask them.
