Removing Unlinked Images

I am working with Front Page on Office 2000 Pro. I have been working with
this website for about 4 years now, and there are a lot of image files
(mostly .gif files) that I know no longer have links pointing to them. Is
there some kind of report I can run in Front Page that can show me these
unused image files so that I can delete them? I have tried the unlinked
files report, but it cannot be correct because it lists almost every page and
image file in the site and they do have current, incoming, internal links.
Any other suggestions?

The Unlinked files report shows a list of files that cannot be reached
directly from the Home Page. Directly means by using an ordinary
hyperlink or reference, examples (not intended to be complete):
<a href="pagename.htm">
<img src="pic.jpg">
<link rel=stylesheet href="styles.css" ... >

Links made in scripting (such as JavaScript) or server side includes are
not direct links in this context.

Files with links to them in the Unlinked Files report are files that
have links to them from other files that are themselves unlinked (and in
that list).

There are columns in the report (FrontPage 2003, and perhaps FP2002 [I
cannot verify this], but not FP2000) that show how many pages link to
each "unlinked" file, and how many pages those files link to. The pages
shown linking to an unlinked file will also be elsewhere in the report,
since they will also be unlinked files.

To find the images that are unlinked, look for images with zero links to
the files. The report can be filtered to show only images, and only
those files with 0 links To them by clicking the column headers and
using the drop down filters at the column headers (FP2003, not FP2000).

Using Tools->Update Hyperlinks may update the report and remove
erroneous entries.
Another reason why there may be erroneous entries is the lack of a
defined Home Page - does the Home page have a House Icon in Folder View?

features included it looks like an upgrade Frontpage 2003 might be a good
idea for our company at this time. Finding a place to purchase it is quite
another! Looks like Microsoft only wants to sell Office 2007, the only
Frontpage 03 I'm finding is on sites like Amazon or Ebay, some new some used.
Any ideas on that subject?

FrontPage 2003 will continue to be fully supported by Microsoft until
January 2009, then extended support until January 2011. As Tom implied,
if you buy FrontPage, buy from a supplier you can trust such as Amazon.

FrontPage 2003 is now over 4 years old (a long time for a program) and
is the last ever version of FrontPage. It has been replaced by
Expression Web and SharePoint Designer.
Expression Web is aimed at standards compliant web sites, and has
limited support for FrontPage components. SharePoint Designer is aimed
at SharePoint websites, but does have more support for FrontPage
Components.
Neither program has any support for VML graphics (WordArt, ShapeArt,
TextBoxes and objects created using the Drawing toolbar).
