Removing Word 2002

I just bought a new PC in Italy which came with an Itakian
version of Works Suite in Italian. I needed an English
version so bought Office Suite. I deleted the Works suite,
but Word 2002 remains on the system. Each time I try to
remove it, "The patch package could not be opened,,,,,,"

Any ideas on how to remove this?

Also by coincidence, I am now getting RunTime errors when
using Explorer!
