Rename a file instead of creating one

Hi,
I use a field name as my form file name when saving in SharePoint. Whenever
the field is edited, a new file is saved, instead the original file is
updated as I prefer. How to only updating the original file?

I cannot delete the original file coz there are other files linking to its
ID for some data connections, so what i am going to do is to delete the new
file and update the old file using an event handler after the new file is
inserted. But this way involves some programming task, are there any ways can
fulfill the desire in Infopath by configuration?

Thanks!

Hi,

Verify 'Allow Overwrite if file exists' check box is checked or not in the
sharepoint data connection. If not, check that check box.

Hope this helps you.

Thx Swathi, it is what i used to expect. I use a field, such as company name,
as the file name when save. After I change the company name and save it would
not overwrite the existed file instead it adds a new one in the list. Can I
use a new file name and still use the same item id?
