Rename error with PWA

I was able to install the Project Rename Tool and successfully rename
projects on the server. However, when users log in through PWA and update
tasks, they are updating the task under the old name. When I try to update
their task actuals back into MS Project I get the following error:

"Project Server was unable to find the specified project. Check the project
name and version. If the problem continues contact your server administrator."

followed by:

"The file required for the Project Server update was not found.
The project file "<>\OldProjectName.Published" could not be located for the
update to be completed. It has been deleted, renamed, or moved to another
location.
Restore the file and try the update again."

How do I rename projects and have users update their tasks in PWA without
this error?

Thanks for any input!

Lynn:

Before renaming a project plan, you must be certain that all updates have
been accepted to the plan. Any updates sitting in the queue become orphaned
when you rename the plan because the rename changes the UID (Key field) for
the project. You also need to republish all your assignments to be sure that
everything is in synch.

Open the renamed project in Pro and Republish Plan. This will "reset" the PWA
pointers to the new name.

I have had this problem in the past. You might have to first rename to
the old name, then accept the task updates that you currently have,
then rename to the new name and publish all information.

The other problem that I face (just in case) is that I am the
administrator and I reanemd and published the plan for all Projects.
Even though I had the make me the manager unchecked, I somehow became
the manager of the projects. I ended up asking each Project Manager to
publish immidietly after I renamed and had to make sure that no
resource submits task hours during that time frame. :)

Thanks for the responses. We did all updates prior to the rename. It sees the
we need to republish. However, once we republish, an email goes out to the
users w/ their tasks but does not remove the task with the old name. Now the
user has 2 tasks assigned to them.
ANy thoughts?
Thanks, Lynn
