"Rename" function not working right

Danny

When I right-click on an object in the Object pane - where it lists all the
tables, queries, forms, reports and modules - I can select "Rename". When I
do this, it highlights the object name, then immediately refreshes,
unselecting the name. In other words, I can't rename an object!!!

This is obviously a bug, yes?

Maybe. I haven't seen this, though, and yours is the first report of it
that I've seen in the newsgroups, so I'm more inclined to think it's
something about your database. Do you by any change have an open form with
a Timer event firing every so often? That has been known to have similar
effects in the VBA window.

I've never seen that behavior.

Is it happening in all of your Access databases, or only in one?

Which version of Access?

Do you have all updates and patches installed?

More info, please...

Nope, no timer function. It's very strange, and very annoying. I had to do
some ridiculous "Save Object As" routine to rename a table.

I'll reproduce it, document the steps, and send it to Whomever It May
Concern...

If you come up with a consistent repro scenario, could you post it here,
too? Thanks.
