Renaming a project corrupts Resource Center data

I have a project that I renamed some time ago. When I look at Resource Center
the details for any resource that was assigned tasks before the name change
shows as the Original project name. Any resource that I assigned to the
project after the name change shows the new project name, but the hours show
zero. If I look at the resource in the Project client it correctly shows the
resource is allocated hours. Why doesn't the Details view in Resource Center
of PWA show correct data for both Project Name and Assigned Hours?

There are several fixes in the latest April 3rd hotfix package
http://support.microsoft.com:80/kb/950816 that seem to be related to issues
with the resource assignments and usage views and the renaming of project
schedules. I pasted two specific ones below:
-If you change a project name in Project Server 2007, the project name is
not updated in Resource Usage view.
-You cannot see the actual work values in the Resource Assignments view in
Project Server 2007

These might not be exactly what you are experiencing but it leads me to
think that there are still some outstanding issues in this area and that
installing this hotfix might resolve them.

When we remane the project, we follow differnt procedure.

We not only change the Project name from "Look and feel" but we also ensure that this change is refeclted Project Center and in Workspace URL.

And for us, we have not faced any problems. I followed these steps to change a name of project:

1. Go to PWA, then Project Center and select the Project.
2. Click on Edit Project Properties.
3. Change the Project Name as per Naming Convention (If any)
4. Copy the Project Name.
5. Now Change any field (Like just put “.”)
6. Click on “Save and Publish”
7. After Save and Publish status turns to 100%, Click on Cancel.
Part 2
1. Go to PWA, Open the Project.
2. Now Click on “Site Actions” (RT Hand Side TOP). Select “Site Settings”
3. Under “Look and Feel”, select first Option “Title, description, and icon”
4. Change Title to New Name
5. Now go to last Option “Web Site Address” and in front of it, you will see URL Name
6. Now overwrite with new Project name and Click on OK.

Part 3
1. Go to PWA and select <server settings> (Last Option - Left hand Side).
2. Then Go to Operational Policies Option and select “Project Workspace”
3. Search for NEW Project NAME and now Click on LEFT Hand Side GRID, just adjacent to the Project Name and click on “Edit Site Address” Now update the Project Name and finally Click on OK
