Renaming Baseline Fields

R

Ryan

Hi All,

I need to change the names for all baseline fields to projected fields, for
example:
Baseline Finish becomes Projected Finish
Baseline Duration -> Projected Duration
Baseline Cost -> Projected Cost
Etc.
I tried creating a Custom Date (Date1) with the formula [Baseline Finish],
but this populates the field with NA instead of a date.
The only way I've been able to get this to work is by saving an Interim plan
and renaming the Finish and Start fields, but this is not ideal because:
1) The reference manually I'm using says to not use Interim plans anymore.
2) It doesn't address baseline cost, etc.

How should I do this?

Thanks for any help,
Ryan

Hi Ryan

where do you want the names to be shown as projected instead of baseline?
if it's in a sheet view, you can double click on the column heading of say
"baseline finish" and type another heading in the title line ... this will
then be displayed instead.

hope this helps

FYI, be careful because "baseline" does not necessarily equal "projected."
Take duration for example. I have a project of 10 5 days tasks in sequence.
The duration is 50 days. I save a baseline so now the baseline duration
holds 50 days. We begin work on the project and the first 2 tasks take 10
days each, not 5. That causes the expected completion to move out by 10
days so now our projected duration, based on what has happened so far, is a
60 days duration. But the *baseline* is still holding 50 days, the
*original* projected duration which is no longer a valid projection of the
reality you'll obtain. I know it seems a minor distinction but one should
be careful anyway.
