Renaming files in Explorer

I need to rename hundreds of files. Assume Windows
Eplorer is the best place to do it, but do I really have
to right click and choose 'rename' for every single one?
Is there a way to make the whole list in to edit mode so
I can just click and edit each one?

Any help to avoid RSI welcome!

It sounds like what you need is a batch file. Post your question with
details -- what the existing filenames look like and what you want the new
names to look like -- to microsoft.public.win2000.cmdprompt.admin and
someone there should be able to help.
