Renaming of server

Hi !

I have an MS Project Server 2003 installation with STS 2002. The name of the
server is 'test'. I would like to rename the server to something else. What
is the procedure for doing so ? Will I have a problem afterwards ?

Is there any need taking care of MSSQL installation and the values in it ?

Thanx!

Hi,
Do you have SQl and project server on the same machine
If yes changing the name of the server can be an offence.
The names gets registered at many places and manually finding all the places
where the name is and changing it can be cumbersome

The best way to execute this is to backup your databases, uninstall WSS and
Project Server, rename the server, and reinstall WSS and Project Server
connecting to the existing databases. Afterward, you'll need to change the
references to the server in the database to the new NetBios name. You can
use the UI to reconfigure the connections to WSS, and the smtp services if
you're running it on the same machine.
