Renaming Projects

Is there any way to rename a Project on the Project
Server, short of manually renaming the file in the
database?

If you are using Project Server 2002, then you must complete the following
steps to rename the project:

1. Open the project in Microosft Project Professional and save it as an
..mpp file using the new name
2. Ask your Project Server administrator to delete the project but not
delete its SharePoint subweb
3. Import the .mpp file into the Project Server database with the correct
name
4. Ask your Project Server administrator to remove the SharePoint subweb
for the newly-imported project and then to connect the SharePoint subweb for
the old project to the newly-imported project

If you are using Project Server 2003, then your Project Server administrator
should download, install, and use the Rename Project Utility from Microsoft.
It is available at the following link:

Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

i've the same issue, however, I'm on Project 2003 and have already installed
Project Renamer utility, however, after activating ProjRenamer.exe on the
server, the I am not able to login and view the list of projects on project
renamer (using a id with local administrator rights), just wondering is there
any issue with project server and sql server on different machine ?
