Renumbering Numbered Note Levels in new Section

Hi

How do you make Numbered Note Levels start at 1 for a new Section in
the Notebook view?

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Are you clicking the numbering icon on the Formatting Palette to begin
numbering? If so, unclick it when you want to start a new list and then
click it again. The number of the item will continue from where you left
off *but* you will see an icon with a lightning bolt on it just to the left.
Click on that and you'll be given the option to Restart Numbering.

Alternatively, if you go to Format> Bullets & Numbering (instead of using
the Formatting Palette), you'll be given the Restart option as soon as you
select a numbering style.

Hi Beth

Forgive the delay in response. My Mac suddenly decided that I didn't
have Bluetooth, and so I couldn't use either my wireless keyboard or
mouse.

No, I don't use the numbering icon on the Formatting Palette. I found
problems with this and so I was advised on this site to switch to
Normal view, use Style from the Format menu, and then click Modify.
It's long-winded but it solved the previous problems.

Tried your first solution and I don't get an icon with a lightning
bolt.

However, your second solution works. Very many thanks.

John
