Renumbering the automatically assigned line item numbers

I've added some tasks and inserted another plan to an existing project plan
and the line item numbers that are automatically assigned by PROJECT (not WBS
numbers) are screwed up. Some line item numbers appear more than once and
I'd like to see them sequentially listed to get a feel for total number of
task lines in the plan

LHH,
The Task ID sequence is doing exactly what it was designed to do. When
one project is inserted into another, only the pointer to the subproject
is actually inserted. The subproject itself is not part of the master
and therefore its ID sequence stays at the subproject level. In other
words, all tasks that actually belong to the master will be
automatically numbered in sequence but only the pointer of inserted
projects will be included in that sequence. The ID numbers of the
subproject itself will start from 1.

The only way you can have complete sequential numbering is to use a
spare number field and manually enter the numbers. However anytime a
tasks is added or deleted, whether in the master or subproject, you will
need to manually re-number. This process can be easily automated with a
simple macro.

Hope this helps.
