Reoccurring Annual Yearly Appointment/Events

I am haveing an issue when syncing my PC with Active Sync. Every Annual
reoccurring event or appointment changes on the PC to "Every 12 Years". It
appears to be some kind of glitch in MS Outlook 2007 that is confused between
Months and Years. I did several tests and research and it appears that
active sync, Windows Mobile and Outllook 2003 are not the problem. Initially
I thought my older version of MS Win Mobile could be the problem but recently
upgraded to Win Mobile 6.1 and same issue. So my last test was to take all
annual reoccurring events out and sync that way and all was fine. When I
got my new mobile phone with 6.1 on it I put a few annual reoccurring events
back on and same issue. But the calendar in the phone remains correct. It
just changes the PC calendar to every 12 years. Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated.

I've heard rumors of issues with Windows Mobile 6.1 and ActiveSync, but
nothing definite. If data is changing as it flows fro mthe mobile phone to
Outlook, it must be the sync software (ActiveSync) because Outlook is passive
in the exchange. There are no settings within Outlook that can control the
sync process. I think you should ask this question in

end date? That will fix the problem.

This type issue seems to be a frequent favorite - especially (or maybe
ONLY) when people sync. Outlook to "something".... another computer,
or smartphone.

I have seen reports of Win Mobile, iPhone, and other phone sync.

Perhaps the common thread is that they all use a sync. conduit that is
based on or derived from ActiveSync.
Apple licensed the ActiveSynce technology from MS, so I "assume"
<yeah, I know about that> that iPhone folks have similar problems -- I
know that I do...

Since this is the Outlook forum and NOT the Windows Mobile /Active
Sync. forum, I'll shut up ;-)

Closing with one question related: Some sync. software would allow
you to either view the data that was going to be updated when the
sync. occured either before or after the sync. If that were possible
in this case either as a function of Outlook or ActiveSync. then the
corruption would become obvious to the user .... as in "Hey wait a
minute my mom's birthday is every YEAR not every 12 years....

Does anyone know if this feature exists - Can logging of calendar
changes be "turned on" either in Outlook or ActiveSync?

Is it whining when it's true? Yes, there are a lot of sync issues -
mostly involving ActiveSync. There were a couple of hotfixes released for
Exchange ActiveSync but nothing for the client side version (that I know
of).

AFAIK, no there is no way to either view the data that will be synced or log
it. I haven't used ActiveSync in years though, so I could be wrong. (I
switched to blackberry).

I reckon the whine decision is "all in the delivery" ;-)

I reckon I've got no choice but to muddle thru ;-) he says as he
updates all of his repeating events for 2010....

You're not wrong, as far as I can tell. I don't see any logging options.

It sure would be helpful debugging all the sync-issues people have
these days if you could walk the log and see what's really going on /
if some entries are corrupted or being modified in the sync.......
Maybe the 2010 version ;-/

AFAIK, Outlook 2010 only logs send/receive (although the option says 'enable
logging for troubleshooting' and doesn't specify what it can troubleshoot).

This was also a problem synching PalmOS devices with Outlook 2007 via
Chapura PocketMirror conduits (which use Palm HotSync software and not
ActiveSync).

Chapura issued an update to (Version 4.3.1) on November 14, 2008 -- See:
http://www.chapura.com/pmstd_details_history.php that "Resolved problem
with some recurrence patterns". They must've been testing against the
Office SP2 beta, since SP2 came out in April 2009... Anyway, that fixed
it for me and I haven't seen the 12 year repeats since then.
