reoccurring bulleted lists

Word 2003:
Every time I open a document based on a certain template, the Normal style
suddenly has bulleted list formating, and since every style is based on
Normal, the entire document is formated with bulleted lists.

So, I fix the document, save it open it again, the bullets are back.

If I open the template itself, everything seems fine.

Another strange thing about this problem, if you look in the Style drop-down
list, even the "More..." item has a bullet, and it's not even a style.

Try the following:

1. Make sure that the document is not set to automatically update its
styles from the attached template: On the Tools menu, click Templates
and Add-Ins. Make sure that "Automatically update document styles" is
cleared, and click OK.

2. Make sure the Normal style is not set to update automatically (that
is, to match formatting directly applied to text). For details, see:
