Repagination in word 2003

HELP,

Our company is using Office 2003, and I have noted a very annoying setting
in word. Under the view Print layout (which I like using since it reflects a
piece of paper) word has repagination set and is greyed out so that I cannot
change it. The problem is that as I have a 'brain wave' and want to capture
the thought into the document Word suddenly 'decides' to repaginate the
document and suspends any ability to use Word for periods of up to a minute
whilst it repaginates the document. It is not that I want to print it and it
needs to repaginate for printing purposes. What I need to find out is how to
remove the repagination in print layout view option and leave it so that I
can repaginate or not as I wish not as the software decides.

There is no possibility of turning off repagination in Print Layout view. If
you want to stop repagination work in Normal view and turn off the option to
repaginate in tools > options.

Thanks, Thought that might be the case, just wish people didn't design
software to take full control like that and not leave us mere mortals to know
what we want and when to do what we want.

Word isn't a page layout application. It flows the text to the dictates of
the margins and the printer driver. The bigger the document the longer such
changes will take. In normal view the margins and driver are of lesser
importance to the display.
