Repair Message List problem

G

grm

Hi Folks,

I work in the Help Center at Carnegie Mellon. We've been telling our
users for about a year now that when they can't delete messages in
their INBOX in Entourage or when they see several copies of the same
caption in their message list, they they should use the Repair Message
List command. We recommend using IMAP as the incoming protocol, and
many of your users have large (1 gig +) INBOXes.

We'vegot some people who have to do this three or four times a day
(personally, I would have just switched to an "unsupported by CMU
client"...). Does anyone have a more permenant solution to this
problem (besides "quit using Entourage") or know when Microsoft might
fix whatever causes the message list corruption?

Thanks!

Have them move some messages from the Inbox to other folders. I also suggest
archiving to a separate Identity messages older than one year. You can
always switch Identities to view the older mail, but there is no need to
keep everything forever in the Inbox.
