Repairing a corrupted file

Hi

The other day I was working on my access 97 db and it
stopped responding, and so I killed the application (ctrl-
alt-del). Then I tried reopening it and it said that the
file needed to be repaired, and I pressed ok. Then while
the file was being repaired my computer got hung so i had
to restart. Now the file seems to be damaged beyond
repair. When i try to open the file, I get the error messg
that "Operation is invalid without a current Index". When
I press ok, it takes me to the db window but its blank...
no queries, forms etc show up... when i click on any tab
(queries, forms, reports etc ) i get the error messg " "
isnt an index in this table. Look in the Indexes
collection of the TableDef Object to determine the valid
index names".

Can anyone help with this?

First off - don't worry. Your file is completely recoverable and you
will not lose any data.

The corruption involves damage to indexes on one or more system
tables. There is almost assuredly no damage to your user-entered
data.

How to fix the system-table index corruption? Microsoft wrote and
released a tool called JetComp, which you can download for free from
their website. This tool was specifically created for errors like
this. However, it is no where near as effective as it could/should
have been. It works about half the time, but fails in a variety of
circumstances. Download the tool and try it out on a copy of your
corrupt file. If it works, great.

If it doesn't work, stop by our website. We can rebuild the indexes
and fully recover the file for you.
