Repeated downloads of email from Server

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

Every few weeks Entourage ends up downloading all the messages in the INBOX folder of Yahoo Business mail acct (POP). Of course these have been downloaded before. Please suggest a way out of this problem keeping in the mind the foll:
1. I need to retain messages on the server.
