Repeated downloads of messages

Just today, seemingly on its own, outlook began to repeatedly download all my
messages on the server (from my ISP) to my inbox, every couple of minutes.
So, when I first open outlook, all messages I have on the server download
again (say 150). Then every couple of minutes, some number of them downloads
again (maybe 110). And again. And Again. And AGAIN. Literally, every couple
of minutes, some large subset of the total messages downloads (tho I haven't
found the pattern to just which ones download each successive time, but it is
always most of them, if not all). Finally, I created a new outlook profile,
and it seemed ok at first, but then it started doing the exact same thing.
Please help! How do I get my previously funtional outlook, downloading
messages only once, operational again? Thank you!

I had the same problem and, unlikely as it seemed to me (but what do I know)
it was my ISP's fault. They fessed up to it.
But here's the best part...they advised me to "simply delete" the
duplicates. they would do nothing about providing a tool for doing so; if it
was a problem I would have to purchase a duplicate elimination program on my
own.
Been deleting messages piecemeal for the last month.
