Repeated message downloads

I have a recurrent problem with Entourage: e-mails from past weeks continue
to download, and typically I will find between 700-2400 messages showing as
unread. Even if I click "Delete from server", they still find their way into
the inbox on repeated downloads. This does not happen when I use a browser
and open my hotmail account, nor on my cellphone--only in Entourage. How do
I stop this process--it results in lost messages as they may be mixed in
with repeats.

Bruce, I have the same problem in Entourage. Get 100's of old deleted emails as well. Have found no answer to stop it. Even after deleting from server. Stan

Is your problem also with a Hotmail account?

For both of you, is this a 'paid for' premium account, or a free one?

Like most MVPs, I am responding to your query through the public
newsgroup channel (NNTP). Microsoft is planning to close the public
newsgroups which would effectively disable this channel and may affect
the number of answers that are given. Please post any concerns you have
about these plans in this newsgroup so we can forward them on to
Microsoft.

I've seen this with database corruption. Rebuild your database.

How to rebuild:

Make a duplicate in the Finder first as additional backup. A rebuild does
make a duplicate, but sometimes in the process the original and backup get
merged resulting in total disaster. It's rare but it happens.
