repeated request for outgoing mail server password

I run Outlook 2003 SP2, and our office uses Godaddy for domain name and email.
I have multiple email accounts with Godaddy under the same domain name, but
the username and passwords of each are different. In the past, Godaddy
allowed you to have a different username and password for their outgoing mail
server - which I never utilized, thus in Outlook email settings I configured
email accounts to require authentication for the outgoing server, but using
the same username and password as the incoming server.

A few months ago - I changed the password for my primary email account with
Godaddy. After changing the password, I found that when sending/receiving
email in Outlook , I received a request from Outlook for the pasword to log
into the outgoing mail server. (this was long after the time required for the
new password to propogate into the outgoing server at Godaddy). Re-entering
the password did nothing - I would simply get another password request within
a few secinds as the password apparentl failed. From trial and error, I found
that the OLD password would not fail, I could send mail again and I
incorrectly concluded from this point forward that Godaddy's outgoing server
was accepting the old password, while the inbound server accpeted the new one.

Recently, I had trouble setting up a new TReo because of this apparent
difference in incoming and outgoing passwords. I couldn't get the Treo to
work. Upon calls to Godaddy, they explained that my incoming and outgoing
mail server passwords on this account were the SAME. And I asked them to
double check, they did, and they also cleared any outgoing password. My Treo
worked fine after configuring the passwords to be the same. But Outlook has
stopped sending emails. I am again getting requests to enter the outgoing
server password, and nothing happens. I have tried all possible permutations
of old and new passwords, and all possible permutations of configuring the
outging server on my email account. I can't solve it.

I have also tried correcting the registry (Save password setting not
retained in Outlook or Outlook Express - Article 290684), and have spoken to
Godaddy no less than 5 times last week. My Treo works fine with this email
account, and so does Godaddy webmail. In fact, I have other email accounts
set in Outlook & Godaddy - under the same domain name - that work fine in
Outlook when I test their settings. These are configured exactly the same as
my primary email account - just different usernames and passwords.

Godaddy is expressing that they believe something is wrong with
Outlook....not with my email configuration, but something else is wrong with
some saved files of some sort within Outlook. Can anyone offer a suggestion?

I may try using the outgoing server of my ISP, or a different server at my
office - but that isn't solving the problem - and before I switch to that, I
wanted to see if there were any suggestions.
