Repeating field data

S

sg

I have a form field and would like that data to repeat later in the document.
The form field has a bookmark name already assigned and is set to calculate
on exit. I have put in the {Ref Bookmark} using CtrlF9 where I want the data
to repeat.

However, when I enter data in the form field and press tab, I get a dialog
box that opens up. It looks like the same box you would get with and ASK or
FILLIN fields. But it just has a ? at the top with an area to type in. If I
just click on OK or Cancel, the data is repeated, but this is annoying. I
didn't think it was part of how this was supposed to work.

Any ideas here? Thanks in advance.

I could not replicate the problem.

What Word version?
Are you using any macro on exit from the formfield?
Any actual ASK field in the document?

It is Word 2003. None of the fields I am using this for have any macros that
run on exit. I do have several other fields in the same document that do
have macros that run on exit...not sure if that makes a difference. I don't
have any ASK fields anywhere at all.

Hope that helps...thanks for the quick reply.

As soon as I get a chance, I will try it in a document that doesn't have
anything else in it.

Well, I did test it and it worked fine on a new document. Not sure why I am
having issues with my current Word document. Please help me if you can!
Thank you!

Problems like this are difficult to diagnose from afar...

If you can, and if you are not too much of in a hurry, send me your
document, I will have a look.

I appreciate your offer to look at it. I did a little further checking and
found that there is a macro that asks a question about whether another area
should be deleted if the checkbox in front of that area is not checked. I
didn't create that macro so I didn't know it was there. I guess that is what
is causing the problem. Is there a work around for it or does it mean I
cannot fill in fields from the entry in another field?

How is the macro activated?
Is it necessary (the macro)?

Unfortunately, it is necessary. It runs when you tab out of a
checkbox form field.

OK.
So post the code and explain clearly what the procedure is (Why/when is the
code activated and what is it supposed to achieve vs. observed results.)
