Repeating Section "Allow users to insert and delete sections" disa

My form uses a web service to get a dataset. The dataset has several tables
in it. When I create a repeating section and then bind the section to one of
the tables in the dataset, the check box for "Allow users to insert and
delete sections" becomes disabled. When the form is viewed the user cannot
insert a new section.

Why? What is it that can disable the entire option to insert another section
in a repeating section?
