Repeating Send/Receive Loop

John

I have a number of emails stuck in my Outbox that cannot send. My Outlook
(2007 operating on pop accts. rather than Exchange) keeps trying to
send/receive but it continually cycles through each of the emails without
sending them. I get up to something 1000+/- tasks. I cannot imagine why
this is happening and I don't know how to stop it other than to delete the
messages in the outbox. Is this a datafile corruption or other file issue?

I would appreciate any thoughts.

Many thanks,
John

Try File | Work Offline and see if you can move or delete those stuck
messages from your Outbox. They are probably causing that loop.

Hi Bill:

I am able eventually to delete the files but I have now had it happen a
separate time, althought it seems to be with the same addressees. Could it
be a file corruption or something with those particular addresses?

Thx.

It might be corruption in the message.
This is with replies to those addresses or new emails to those addresses?
I'd expect if it was only the address that it might send out but then come
back as undeliverable. Anyway, you can check those addresses.
Sometimes a corrupt PST will also cause these sorts of issues. Run
scanpst.exe on the data file and see what it comes up with. I'll be away
(again) for a week or so but if you have hassles someone else here can
follow up. If you have hassles and nobody else follows through a new post
will grab someones attention.

Bill:

Thanks again for the note. I've run scanpst numerous times and I come up
clean each time. I think it is an issue with "reply to" for one address and
simple "to" for another. There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason other than
that the user (my wife) doesn't use her address book; rather, she uses the
"historical" drop downs you get when you type a name in the To field.

Thanks,
John
