Repeating Table Cell in New Table

I am creating a document that has a table in the header. I have a slightly
different table in the first page header than the rest of the document.

What I want to be able to do is have a portion of the text I enter in my
table on page 1 header, appear in the table in the header of the rest of the
document, but only have to input the info in once (not twice).

I attempted to do this with a bookmark on the entire table and reference
fields, but I have page number info in my table that does not update
correctly (set up using fields). I cannot simply set the bookmark on my text,
because it disappeared when I changed the text (is that suppose to happen?),
and when I set the bookmark as a cell of the table, it inserts the entire
cell inside the cell of my second table.

I also tried looking for a formula that will allow me to repeat the text
from one table cell in the cell of another, but I haven't been able to get
anything to work along those lines (only seems to like numbers).

Is there a solution to this? Or a better way to approach having this
information appear and repeat at the top of each page of my document?

You could try defining a custom property (File>Properties.Custom) then
inserting a DocProperty field in the cell.

If you change the definition of the custom property, don't forget to update
the field in the table(s) - F9. There are macros available for updating all
fields in a document at once (but I don't have the links to hand - try the
MVP sites or http://wordtips.VitalNews.com).
