Repeating tables on subsequent pages

K

Kim Rossiter

Hello,
I have set two tables on the first page of the document
that I would like to repeat themselves on all subsequent
pages of my document (I am making a recipe book and want
to put each recipe in each box).

I realize that it would be more practical to go to page
setup and select 2 pages per page under multiple pages,
however I am having great difficulty with this also.
The "Word" book that I am referencing for instructions
states to select lanscape for the 2 pages per page
option. Although the landscape box is highlighted, it
prints out in portrait as well as a problem with the
margins!

I am about ready to pull out my hair and would appreciate
any help with either problem that I have.
Thanks so much.

Whoa! Let's back up and see what it is you're trying to do. As I read your
description, several possibilities occur to me:

1. You're trying to produce a booklet by printing two pages per sheet. If
so, you can use the "Book fold" option or the other techniques described at
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Formatting/BookletPrinting.htm

2. You're trying to print two recipes side-by-side on a landscape page. If
so, you can use the "2 pages per sheet" option in Page Setup, choosing
Landscape orientation (the individual pages will be portrait).

3. You're trying to print two recipes one above the other on a portrait
page. Use "2 pages per sheet" and Portrait orientation (the pages will be
landscape).

In all three cases, each recipe will be on a separate logical page (two to a
physical page), which can have its own page number, page border, margins,
etc. If this is *not* what you want (you just want two recipes on a page),
then you could set up a two-row table using Exact row height (to put the
recipes top and bottom) or a two-column table for side-by-side recipes. Save
the table as an AutoText entry, and it will be easy to insert on each page.

Note that you could still use option 3 for top and bottom placement, but
you'd need to use a calculated page number ({ = { PAGE }/2 } if it was in
the footer), and you wouldn't be able to generate an automatic TOC (because
the calculated page numbers wouldn't be picked up).
