replace function

anyone know how to use replace to change the pattern (eg color) of
multiple cell having the same contents? E.g if a cell reads "tree" in
black and white, can you replace it with "tree" in a green cell
backround? This is easy to do on excel for windows because the replace
tab gives you that option. Is it not available for the mac?
